OET crane with high-end technology for the German steel producer “Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH” in Siegen

Despite the tight time frame of less than two months Ralf Teichmann GmbH could equip the ordered overhead travelling crane (12,5 t) with latest technology. Only one week lay between delivery and successful handover. Four Teichmann specialists organized the necessary action on site.

Robust design for continuous use and high speeds

The crane department of „Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH“ in Siegen-Geisweid had some very clear ideas about the technical equipment of the new OET crane. As technical components are permanently available in the huge Teichmann warehouse and thanks to the know-how of the experts from Essen the order could be realized in a very short time. All specifications were put into practice with precision – from advanced technology to painting in corporate colours of the metal working company.

Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH processes about one million tons of stainless steel per year. At the locations of Witten, Siegen, Krefeld, Hagen and Hattingen about 4.000 employees see about production of the precious metal. Industrial sectors from all over the world are supplied, from automotive industry to automobile and aerospace sectors, from machine engineering to energy and plant technology. A high quality production requires high quality cranes.

The new OET crane (with span of 22 m) in massive steelworks execution had to be designed for continuous use. In addition to that a high working speed was required for its use as grab crane. The result: maximum crane travelling speed of 100 m/min (longitudinal travel) and maximum hoisting speed of 30 m/min. To guarantee reliable operation the load distribution of the crane was adapted to the crane runway in Siegen in an optimal way by installation of additional wheels.

The innovative „Active Front-End“ is an example of the technical highlight of the Teichmann crane. The energy recovery system based on active front-end technology reduces operating costs and at the same time it contributes to improvement of net quality. All in all only the best technical components were used.

Experts among themselves

The crane experts of „Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH“ in Siegen are responsible for more than 100 cranes working on site. The specialists of Teichmann Cranes in Essen represent the high level of expertise of Europe’s biggest supplier of completely renewed used cranes. The cooperation ran smoothly. The new OET crane successfully began working.
